The update, which went live earlier this week, includes a new “Game Audio” section in the app’s settings. Here, users can toggle between listening to game audio through the console’s speakers or headphones, or completely bypass them and listen through their phone or other audio device. This is a big change for Xbox One owners who want to be able to hear game audio without having it blasted directly into their ears. Previously, if you wanted to listen to game audio while using headphones or an external speaker, you had to disable the console’s built-in sound. This new option could be especially useful for people who want to watch TV shows or movies while playing games. Previously, they had either had to choose between listening to game audio and watching TV/movies, or turn off both sounds and miss out on important dialogue and action in games.
