If your laptop fan is making a lot of noise, it may be time to clean it. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Remove the battery and AC adapter if you’re using an HP laptop with a built-in battery and power cord.
  2. Open the laptop case by removing the two screws on either side of the hinge.
  3. Lift up the keyboard and remove the fan assembly.
  4. Clean all of the dust and debris off of the fan blades, using a vacuum cleaner or a can of compressed air. Make sure to get into all of the nooks and crannies.
  5. Replace the fan assembly, keyboard, and screws, then reattach the battery and AC adapter if necessary. ..
