If you’re like most longboarders, your bearings are probably dirty and need to be cleaned. Here’s how to do it:
- Remove the bearing from the skateboard. If it’s a small bearing, you can just pop it out with your fingers. If it’s a big bearing, use a screwdriver or hex wrench to remove the screws that hold it in place.
- Pour some rubbing alcohol or degreaser into a bowl or container large enough to fit the bearing and skateboard together. Swirl the liquid around until it’s completely mixed in.
- Place the skateboard and bearing on some newspaper or paper towel so that the bearings are covered completely. Let the bearings soak for at least 30 minutes, but preferably overnight.
- Remove the newspaper or paper towel and rinse off the bearings and skateboard thoroughly with water. Be sure to get all of the solvent residue off of them! Finally, dry them off with a cloth or paper towel before re-installing them on your board ..
