If you’re like most Xbox One owners, you’ve probably had to open up your controller at some point in order to fix or replace something. But if you’re having trouble getting the Torx screws out, don’t worry—here’s a guide on how to do it without them. First, make sure that the controller is completely unplugged from the Xbox One. Then, use a Phillips head screwdriver to unscrew the four screws that hold the controller together (two on each side). Once they’re out, gently pull apart the controller. Now that the controller is open, you’ll need to remove the battery and memory card. To do this, first remove one of the two screws that holds them in place (the one closest to where the power cord enters). Then use a flathead screwdriver to pry them outwards until they pop free. Finally, remove the card and battery. Now that everything is out of the controller, it’s time to clean it up. Use a damp cloth or vacuum cleaner to clean all of the dust and debris off of it. Make sure to also clean any grease or oil off of any parts that need it—this will help prevent corrosion from happening in future years. Finally, reattach all of the screws and put everything back together in reverse order—making sure not to overtighten them! ..
