If you’re ever in a bind and can’t find your car key, there’s one option: using a screwdriver to pick the lock. It’s not the most secure way to get into your car, but it’s better than nothing. Here are four tips for picking a lock with a screwdriver:
- Start by finding the screws that hold the lid of the car closed. These screws are usually located on either side of the car.
- Use your screwdriver to pry open the lid of the car, and then use your fingers to feel for any screws that have been missed earlier.
- Once you’ve found all of the screws that need to be removed, use your screwdriver to pry them out from their locations. Be careful not to damage or remove any of the plastic parts of the lid.
- Once all of the screws have been removed, place your hand on top of each screw and try to twist them clockwise or counterclockwise until they’ve released from their locations inside of the lid of the car.
