If you’re having trouble getting your car to start in cold weather, there’s a good chance you need to put it in accessory. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Make sure the car is turned off and the keys are out of the ignition.
  2. Open the hood and locate the battery. It will be either on top or behind the engine.
  3. Pry off the cover that covers the battery and unscrew the cap.
  4. Put a jumper cable between the battery’s positive terminal and one of your car’s 12 volts (usually found near your headlights). 5. Connect your other end of the cable to your car’s negative terminal (usually found near your tailpipe). 6. Start your car by turning on all of its lights and then pressing down on the gas pedal until it starts up. 7. Release pressure from the gas pedal as soon as it starts moving, then repeat steps 4-6 until you get into accessory mode (the dashboard light should stay on). 8. Turn off your car by turning off all of its lights, disconnecting both cables, and screwing back on the cover over the battery ..
