There are a few things you can do to speed up Illustrator, if you’re using it for art purposes. One is to use the “Command-Option-N” shortcut key combination to move the selection around, or use the “Command-Option-V” shortcut key combination to copy and paste selections. Another thing you can do is to set up your preferences so that Illustrator starts up faster when you start it up. To do this, open Preferences and select the “General” tab. There, you’ll find a list of options called “Startup Speed.” You can change these settings to whatever you want, but I recommend setting them to " Faster." This will make Illustrator start up much faster.
