If you’re like most Xbox One owners, you probably don’t have a screwdriver lying around. That’s where this guide comes in handy. We’ll show you how to take apart your controller without any tools at all. First, remove the battery cover by gently pushing down on the lip near the top and pulling it off. Next, unscrew the four screws that hold the controller’s front panel in place. Finally, lift up the front panel and remove it. Now that the controller is open, you can see all of its components. The first thing you’ll want to do is remove the two joysticks and their buttons. To do this, first push down on one of the joystick arms until it pops out of its socket. Then use your fingers to pop off each button one at a time. Be careful not to lose any of them! Next, remove the four screws that hold down the back panel and lift it off. You’ll now be able to see all of the internal components: including the motherboard, power supply unit (PSU), memory card reader/writer (MCRW), and sensors. If there are any broken or missing pieces, now is a good time to replace them before continuing with your repairs. If you need help putting everything back together, we’ve included detailed instructions below along with pictures for each step. Good luck! ..
