If you’re like most photographers, you probably have a few favorite Lightroom presets that you use on a regular basis. But what if you want to create a new preset? Or maybe you’ve got a great idea for a new preset but don’t know how to make it happen. In this article, we’ll show you how to use presets in Lightroom and give you some tips on creating your own. First things first: if you don’t already have a preset loaded in your Lightroom library, make sure to download our free “How to Use Presets” guide. This guide will walk you through the process of importing and using presets, so be sure to check it out if you’re new to the program. Once your presets are loaded up and ready to go, let’s take a look at how we can use them in our workflow. To create a new preset, open up the “Presets” panel (Window > Presets) and click on the “New” button at the top of the panel. This will open up the “New Preset dialog box.” In this dialog box, we’ll need to give our new preset a name and description (these are just for reference purposes; we won’t see them when we actually use our new preset). We can also choose which category our new preset falls into: Tone & Color or Camera Settings. Finally, we’ll select which settings we want our new preset to include. In this example, we’re going to create a new tone-based preset called “Vintage Photo.” Once everything is set up, click on the “Create” button at the bottom of the dialog box and our new custom Lightroom preset will be created! We can now load this newly created preset into our workflow by selecting it from the “Presets” panel or by clicking on its name in any photo window (such as Develop module). Be sure to experiment with different settings until you find something ..
