In 2018, Microsoft announced that it was cutting 1,850 jobs from its Xbox division. This was in addition to the 2,850 jobs that were cut in 2017 and the 7,800 jobs that were cut in 2016. The layoffs were due to the fact that Microsoft was losing money on its Xbox business again. Microsoft is facing a lot of competition from Sony and Nintendo with their consoles.
